We started from the assumption that the epistemological orientations of focus STS (Science, Technology and Society), contribute to the scientific literacy of students in the early years, but also provide activities for reading and writing larger context and meaning. From this perspective, was applied didactic sequence, based on the theme "human food". We opted for a qualitative methodological approach, interpretative, with the children of 1st year 1st Cycle of Basic Education in a public school in Ponta Grossa - PR. Data were collected through application of diagnostic testing, observation, audio recordings, photographs, written records, illustrations performed by children and post test. O soro de leite é uma importante fonte de proteínas. Porém, no Brasil ainda há um grande número de laticínios que realizam o descarte deste subproduto da fabricação de queijos, gerando assim, desperdícios e um problema socioambiental. A busca por novas aplicações ao soro de leite pode aumentar o uso potencial deste subproduto como ingrediente lácteo em diversos alimentos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo a hidrólise da lactose do concentrado proteico de soro de leite (CPS) para aplicação como ingrediente lácteo em iogurte cremoso para intolerantes à lactose. A metodologia de superfície de resposta foi utilizada para investigar o efeito de dois parâmetros (tempo e concentração de enzima) na hidrólise da lactose do CPS e do leite para produção de iogurte com redução de lactose. A experimentação teve como objetivo definir as faixas ótimas de operação para as variáveis do processo, visando à maximização da hidrólise da lactose. As condições ótimas para a hidrólise da lactose foram: para o CPS, concentração de enzima 0,22% por 1680 minutos e para o leite, 0,13% de enzima por 120 minutos. Urban growth and the fast pace in the concentration of people in cities are inevitable. Building verticalization as a solution to attend the need of maximum land use and to justify the infrastructure invested by the government in central areas, cause considerable impacts on the environment which they are. However, urbanization is not a problem itself, but how cities are being built and occupied. Thus, the main goal of this work is to verify the shadow influence caused by tall buildings in a specific area inside of the zone with more capacity of verticalization in Curitiba. This research was developed in four steps: the first one was to study the existing literature about this topic, second to define study section in the city and periods to be analyzed, third step to delimit a zoom of study with analysis about all periods and, fourth with computer simulations on Auto CAD, Sketchup Pro, Excel and Ecotect softwares to obtain important results. The proposal was applied to a class of sixth year of a field school in a city in Paraná. For ten classes in environments such as the classroom, the schoolyard and areas outside the educational establishment, demonstrating, simulating, observing and investigating through didactic models the apparent motions of the celestial sphere and its relationship with alternating climate. For data collection a questionnaire were applied prior and the other end. The analysis of these instruments directed through discourse analysis confirmed that the students had misconceptions, such as: understand the alternation of the seasons because the approach and retraction of the Earth to the Sun; comprised a geocentric system, said the Sun "moved up "on the celestial sphere in fixed path throughout the year, rising east and setting in the west. These and other misconceptions were worked in the instructional sequence, obtaining at the end of the work important results that validated the use of educational resources produced and used together with the students. Super duplex stainless steel is a material widely used in oil and gas industry and boring is one of the manufacturing processes used to manufacture components for this industry. The finishing surface generated by boring process is very important once these parts are exposed to great corrosive attacks by being in contact with oil and gas acids and, also, because they are used at big depths and high pressures in the seabed. The need of using dampened boring bars occurs when the length is four times greater than the machined diameter. It was used one of these dampened boring bars to analyze its influence on a boring processes, with its length eight times its diameter. The material used for this study is the super duplex stainless steel SAF2507. Input variables for analysis were cutting speed, feed, nose radius of the cutting tool and coolant pressure. For analysis of the material integrity it was measured the surface roughness using Sq, Ssk, Sku, Str, Sal, Sk, Sk, SvK parameters, residual stress, hardness and machining temperature dissipated in part region. The results have shown the presence of residual tensile stress with increasing hardness when Sk roughness is up to 2 μm and Sk roughness below 2 μm showed low residual tensile or residual tensile compression. Other than that, comics offer richness of content and are well accepted by the students, which feel encouraged to learn. Thus, the present study has as a purpose to identify the contributions of this genre in Science Education, specifically to study the nervous system, in the 5th grade of an elementary school. The Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Law provides for technical assistance and rural extension in the agriculture sector, which is one of the main economic sectors in Brazil due to the centralized planning model used since the 1980 decade. The Technical Assistance and Rural Extension State organizations, as well as private extension, science and technology, credit policies, foment and infrastructure, play a very important role in the Brazilian economy. The re-democratization and opening of the Brazilian market to international markets in the 80s helped the creation of a new public management that provided the modernization of public administration processes. This work approaches the study of gas-liquid flow in the expansion chamber of a typical cylindrical cyclonic separator. To understand its operation, first is analyzed the velocity field of the liquid phase inside the equipment. The analysis is based on numerical simulations and experimental measurements. From the results, is developed a model that determines the velocity and the thickness of the liquid film flow along the separator. The model developed produces results with good accuracy for a wide range of operating conditions and dimensions of the separator. In the second step, a formulation for bubble tracking is coupled in the single phase model, in order to evaluate its theoretical separation from a continuous liquid medium. The study of two-phase flow identifies the optimum length of the separator to separate bubbles and also allows understand the influence of operating conditions on the separation process. This work presents new approaches for two of the fundamental steps in automatic waveform analysis in electrical distribution systems: transient time detection and its classification. Two datasets were used to compare and validate the proposed methods. The first is composed by simulated waveforms, by using the Alternative Transient Program, while the second is formed by real data from a monitoring system developed for overhead distribution power lines. The real data present a set of relevant events for the analysis proposed here, mainly due to the variety of events, including lightning-related transients. Regarding transient detection (waveform segmentation), the experiments involve usual segmentation methods, such as Kalman filtering, standard Discrete Wavelet Transform, and autoregressive models, besides two new techniques based on the Teager Energy Operator and Support Vector Data Description. The results obtained on both simulated and real world data demonstrate that the method based on Support Vector Data Description outperforms other methods in the transient identification task. Electrosurgery is a surgical technique that uses an electrosurgical device for cutting, drying (desiccation), and coagulation of organic tissue, thereby reducing the risk of bleeding. Electrosurgical device uses sparking phenomena for this purpose. This process causes heating of intracellular water and, consequently, the rupture of the cell in the organic tissue. Although the amount of energy delivered by the electrosurgical device is easy to know, little is known about the exactly amount of energy involved in the various phenomena of electrosurgical procedure, especially in cutting, where cells suffer ablation by vaporization Based on this was developed this research, which objective is to determine the energy required for the electrosurgical cutting through the electrical parameters involved and the energy used for the vaporization of water of organic tissue. The method developed was corted in three experiments, with a series of specific tests in each. It has been show that only about 10% of total energy is used for cutting, or specifically, for the vaporization of water of organic tissue. The study was structured in order to investigate the acceptance of the propose activity and how the academics involved in the project are using their free time, through the application of social scales (LQOL-70, Pre and Post dance workshop). By reason of little experience and knowledge of this mimetic practice by the students, was given a Ballroom Dancing “Sertanejo Universitário” workshop and was collected the views of participants to draw up an action plan involving the practice of dance that could be applied by persons with little knowledge in the area. In the second stage the teaching of geometries was approached non-euclidian in the Medium Teaching, using Art and Mathematics. The methodological point of view the approach was qualitative, of interpretative nature, with participant observation.
