The use of prototype tooling is an option to obtain functional prototype of injection molded plastic parts. These prototypes should have mechanical and physical characteristics as close as possible to the final parts obtained in production molds. In order to reduce manufacturing cost and time of these molds, alternative materials, such as aluminum and zinc alloys, can be employed. The difference in thermal conductivity of these materials results in a variation of the cooling rates, which can influence the mechanical properties of the moldings. The main objective of this work is to understand the influence of the prototype tooling material (zamak-8) and also the variation of mold temperature (TMold) and the melt temperature (TMelt) on the mechanical properties of Polypropylene (PP). The idea is then to verify if these temperature parameters may allow obtaining functional prototypes with similar characteristics to the PP injected in a steel mold. The influence of the zamak-8 material and the TMold and TMelt on the properties of the molding was studied by comparison with the molding injected in a steel mold. The characterization techniques used were tensile and impact tests and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). This Thesis develops an instrument for evaluating environmental performance in management of industrial solid waste. The practices verification consider the industrial product life-cycle through indicators and indices based on the National Policy on Solid Waste parameters and related concepts such as reverse logistics, Cleaner Production and Ecodesign, and standards like ISO 14000 series such as environmental management systems, integrating environmental aspects in product design and development, environmental labels and Environmental Performance Evaluation. The central Thesis’ aim, that was to develop an environmental evaluating model, contains this panorama, which calls on a fuzzy modeling tool to assist organizations in making decisions. Two methodological research groups covered the dicussions and the instrument construction called Environmental Performance Index of Industrial Solid Waste Management (IDEA PNRS+L): qualitative and quantitative. For this to be achieved, if a structured theoretical framework was based on the themes addressed: information, digital library, and Internet Copyright Act. In structural terms, the Digital Library Quality of Life (DLQL) was built on the index database of journals Geodis, which uses a MySQL language system for managing your database information, supported by the tool phpMyAdmin. Still, the creation of the working interface, as well as systems for search and retrieval of material from DLQL were built with the help of tools like phpEditor in languages PHP, HTML and CSS, making it possible to search online for materials attached easily and quickly. The library was tested in two stages, where the first dealt with the completion of a pre-test, with the aim of detecting possible problems and collect suggestions for improvement. The interest in researching the issue of solid waste in a rural school was built mainly by the deficiencies found in the pedagogical exercise in relation to the subject, as well as believing that the issue of waste in rural areas is more problematic, given the fact that the collection process waste is often lacking and information on the subject are still not very disseminated. This work presents an activity using a numerical analysis software (Octave) with the objective of contributing with mathematical functions teaching. The tool was selected based on the features needed to deal with the teaching contents, as well as the possibility of students manipulate and visualize situations through simulation. The theory of meaningful learning of Ausubel was used to organize the approach. We conducted a pilot project addressing the teaching of functions, followed by a second phase that included concepts of physics. This project involved students from different high school levels. The survey was conducted in 2011, on a course of 30 hours for 16 teachers in the 2nd year of the 2nd cycle (former 4th grade) elementary school for nine years the Municipal School of Ponta Grossa city. From the methodological point of view, the study entered into a qualitative interpretative research and applied purposes. For data collection we used the following instruments: the questionnaire, the Pre-test, the Post-test, the Collective Diary and Diary. From the questionnaire it was possible to trace the profile of teachers and the results of the pre-test were found difficulties and obstacles that teachers were in teaching fractions. This study was developed aiming to estimate the susceptibility to soil erosion of Catorze River watershed, in the municipality of Francisco Beltrão - PR. Samples were collected throughout the basin in the surface horizon, and subsequently developed particle size analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, we used the equation developed by Denardin (1990), which considers the levels of aluminum oxide, sand and organic matter, and the permeability of the soil, and found values of the K factor (erodibility). Through the Spring software 5.1.8, the soils were classified Basin, and using LEGAL program was given the values of K for soils classified, resulting in a rectangular grid with the values of the erodibility factor of the entire basin. Was produced letters soil classification and erodibility of the factor with the aid of software Scarta 5.1.8. The equations for estimating erodibility factor values depend on the physical, chemical and biological properties of soils and are developed in order to minimize mistakes and get closer to an actual value of the factor K. Modified pectin is a polysaccharide rich in galacturonic acid altered by pH adjustment and thermal treatment used especially as an anti-cancer agent. The aim of this work was to study the physical and chemical properties of modified and unmodified pectins extracted from orange bagasse by using citric and nitric acids. The galacturonic acid content, degree of esterification, Fourier Transform Infrared 30 Spectroscopy profile, molar mass, intrinsic viscosity, rheological properties and antioxidant activity of the pectins were evaluated. The modification process caused the de-esterification of pectins, responsible for improving the intestinal absorption of modified pectin and a decrease of molecular weight due to removal of neutral sugars, maintaining the linear chain of galacturonic acid. Such changes also caused a significant increase in the in vitro antioxidant activity and influenced the rheological properties of pectin, reducing its viscosity. This work showed that the modification of pectin from orange bagasse with citric and nitric acids altered its structural and physical characteristics as well as its biological activity toward a free-radical, suggesting that some functional properties related to antioxidant activity activity and absorption of nutrients may be increased.

This study is the questioning about the possibilities of teaching in the classroom, the chemical content of solutions, related to the daily life of students, to provide the Scientific and Technological Literacy (ACT) by focusing Science-Technology-Society (CTS). The overall goal of this research is to develop and analyze the chemical content of education solutions relating to the daily lives of students by focusing CTS contributing to the Scientific and Technological Literacy (ACT). The study was conducted with 55 students from 2nd grade of high school, the course of an Agricultural Technician in State Center for Professional Education, the city of Rio Negro, Parana. The methodological approach was qualitative interpretative, with participant observation. This study was designed to estimate the topographic factor of Catorze River Basin, in the municipality of Francisco Beltran - PR through of GIS. For this, we used the software Spring 5.1.8, which edited the rivers, forming the hydrographic network of Catorze River Basin. It was also edited, the contour lines, creating a rectangular grid with the values of the basin hypsometric, observing an altimetry between 540 and 962 m. Thus, one can generate an array of slope of the basin as a percentage. Edited to the dividers of water, and having hydrography basin as break line was generated ramp lengths. To perform the topographic factor used the language of the software LEGAL Spring, associating the slope of Catorze River Basin with the length of the ramp, resulting in the LS factor. Later, they produced the letters slope, slope length and topographic factor with the help of software Scarta 5.1.8. The slope in the basin has to be strongly wavy corrugated and the length of ramp is between 10 and 30 meters. The values found for the LS factor, in general, they are medians, indicating low susceptibility to erosion due to the topography of the basin. However, in the headwaters of the basin where the terrain is steeper, one can relate the high values of the LS factor for ramp lengths and the higher slopes...

Innovation management is a difficult subject to be dealt with, regarding a constant technological product shifting. Nevertheless, it is a surviving and competitive edge condition for companies which, being aware of that, search for innovative ideas. Concept management works as to attract ideas to foment the process. The aim of this research is to propose a referential structure to attract ideas, employing open innovative actions. The theoretical reference is assembled through a bibliometric and systemic research on the subject. A conceptual and empiric structure is also assembled. The aforementioned structure is validated with P&D managers from 12 (twelve) midsize and large size Brazilian industrial companies which manage innovative ideas. The present work addresses the performance of the Amazon vegetal fiber curauá (Ananas erectifolius) as applied to the production process of portland cement panels, aimed at the improvement of the physical and mechanical properties of the panels. The methodology of this work was developed from the production of portland cement panels reinforced with curaua fibers, varyng of the amounts and the treatments applied to the vegetal fibers, being conducted tests for the fiber characterization to justify at a later stage the behavior of the latter in the panels. The results obtained from the inhibition test classified the curaua fiber without treatment as of high applied to the curaua fibers influenced positively both the compatibility between cement and the curaua fiber and the cristallinity degree of the curaua fiber. The survey was conducted with students from 1st year of 2nd cycle of basic education in a school of the Municipal Education of the city of Ponta Grossa, Paraná. For the work in the classroom and motivate students involved dynamically chosen by the procedure of teaching with research and the theme that was used as a pretext for the search of the students was the amount of paper discarded by the school in the morning. A team collected and weighed every day the paper discarded by other classes of the school staff room and office, everything was weighed and recorded. The data collected came to make graphs, calculations and estimates for the interpretation of these data. Apresenta-se a função de Weierstrass a qual induz a implementação de uma outra função de características semelhantes que é representada por uma soma finita de funções reais. Devido ao fato das somas parciais dessas funções reais envolverem domínios diferentes, tornou-se manualmente impraticável a obtenção destas somas quando o número de funções é grande. Neste caso, a disponibilidade de tecnologia com o uso do Maple 12 torna-se adequada para a visualização geométrica do gráfico destas somas parciais.
