This study aims to identify, through the application of webometric indicators, which Post-Graduate Courses in Engineering recommended by the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Personnel Education (CAPES) in Brazil stand out in the web space, in relation to the communication process and dissemination of scientific information in the academic environment. For this, we analyzed the structures content of the sites, the use, through the conduct of investigations and searches, the quality of information available, as well as the structure of existent hypertexts in the sites of this universe of search. The tools and methodologies adopted for this study are: search engines (Google, Yahoo), Mapper software (Xenu Link Sleuth) and analysis software and visualization of networks (and Ucinet6 NetDraw). Webometric indicators are also used, such as size of the web sites, visibility, web impact factor, brightness and density of the network. These instruments provide a brief analysis and evaluation for this webometric study. Therefore, from the incursion of the literature used, it appears that there are many advantages of using this type of metric study in the so called Information Society. Industrial activities are constantly producing wastes such as dyes which are usually found in the industrial effluents and constitutes a environmental problem due its toxicity and inadequate disposal. The use of fungi, in particular the white-rot fungus, have been found to be efficient for biodegrading these compounds. In addition, slow sand filtration have been reported to be the most efficient unit filtration processes to improve the physical, biological and chemical quality of potable water. The objective of this work was to investigate the removal efficiency of the dye FD&C azul Nº 2 Indigotina, by the use of the Trametes versicolor fungus combined with slow sand filtration. Two laboratory-scale filter columns of 0.08 m diameter and 0.90 m sand media depth were used to investigate the process performance. One slow sand filter, FLA, was applied in combination with the Trametes versicolor fungus, while the FLB was used as control. Three methodologies for the fungi growth were used. The results showed that the slow sand filtration is a prominent process for the removal of the dye FD&C azul nº 2 Indigotina when used in combination with the Trametes versicolor fungus. A maximum removal of 95% was found when the filter was inoculated with fungi grown on Petri dish. The average dye removal when the increased fungi biomass was inoculated to the filter was 70%. Latin-American countries are facing serious problems related to waterborne diseases due to the lack of basic sanitation, affecting in particular those people living in small and rural communities. Solar radiation for water disinfection, SODIS, seems a promising process for small communities since it does not require electric energy and it has low cost and easy operation. This work aimed to evaluate the inactivation of the pathogens Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens by SODIS in the Center-West region of Brazil, Goiânia-GO. The Colilert® and multiple tubes (NMP/100 mL) were used to determine the Escherichia coli and the Clostridium perfringens bacterias, respectively. The inactivation and the re-growth of these bioindicators, the physico-chemical parameters of the raw and disinfected waters were the main focus of this work. Raw water was collected from a well located at the Civil Engineering School (EEC) of Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and it was inoculated apart using pre-determined concentrations of these bio-indicators. Brazil is one of the top pesticides using countries in the world, being the State of Goiás a potential contributor due to its large production of industrial tomatoes. Among the most widely used pesticides is the organophosphate Acephate with toxicological characteristics capable of infecting both living beings and the environment. There are several seeking solution studies to remediate xenobiotic compounds, being microorganisms an important biotechnological tool against them. The aim of this study was to select rot-white fungal that can produce oxidative enzymes under certain conditions, in the presence of Acephate, evaluating their effectiveness in reducing its toxicity. Thus, the study was divided into three parts: testing on solid medium under different nutritional conditions, tests in liquid culture medium under two different conditions (shaking and static) and development of analytical methodology to evaluate the decrease of Acephate toxicity. We defined two levels of Acephate, 10 and 50%, which were treated by the following species: Trametes versicolor, Trametes villosa, Pycnoporus sanguineus, Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Lentinus edodes. In solid medium all species showed mycelial growth and satisfying development in the presence of Acephate under standard nutritional conditions. Overcrowding in urban centers has spawned many impacts on the environment, highlighting the waste generated by their activities. To properly allocate these wastes, technologies are developed such as those involved in sewage treatment. However, this form of treatment also generates waste, which must be treated and disposed of properly. The sludge is a byproduct of sewage treatment and has few alternatives available, among which, the agricultural disposition for purposes of soil conditioning or recovery of degraded areas. The soil, however, must have received the favorable characteristics of this type of material so as not to create conditions for growth of bacteria is not eliminated in the sludge treatment and prevent contamination of groundwater and surface water. Thus, this study aimed to classify areas as to the suitability of the application of sludge sewage treatment station of Goiania, a radius of 46 km from that station, using the geographic information system. Mathematical models are gaining ever greater importance in the evaluation and comparison of management alternatives for natural water bodies. One of the difficulties in the use of water quality models for nitrogen and oxygen is the absence of kinetic parameter data about reactions in biochemical processes. The data in the current literature refer to foreign bodies of water, mainly in countries with a temperate climate. The objective of this study was to evaluate the processes of nitrogen and oxygen transformation in water. The Meia Ponte River, one of the principal rivers of Goiás, was the object of the study. The water samples were collected in an urban area of the municipality of Goiânia, Bairro Novo Goiânia 2, which presents apparent man-made interference with the natural environment. The study involved field work and laboratory experiments, as well as the analysis of historical flow data from the Goiânia River Flow Measurement Station. The reaeration coefficients (Ka) in dry and rainy periods, which ranged from 1.17 to 2.34 d-1 and from 0.63 to 2.01 d-1, respectively, were estimated on the basis of historical flow data from 1975 to 2005. The polyphenoloxidase (PPO) is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of phenolic compounds to quinones in the presence of oxygen. This enzyme is widely used in biosensor production and selective evaluation of phenol content in industrial effluents. In this work a biosensor modified with enzyme extract containing polyphenoloxidase from Hymenaea stigonocarpa (jatoba) seed was developed to detect phenolic compounds. The extraction was performed using Structural Risk Minimization (SRM) factorial design with 22 more central point. The extraction conditions were optimized in 1.0% (w / v) polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in 50 mmol l-1 phosphate buffer pH 7.5, time 40 min. The activity obtained was 0,97 ± 0,03 UEmg-1 proteins. The crude extract was partially purified using precipitation with ammonium sulfate 60% (w / v) and fractionated in phosphate buffer pH 7.0 in 1.0% Triton TX-100.The PPO activity resulting precipitated fraction was 2.7 times higher than in the crude extract. The present study had the goal of assessing the efficiency and behavior of three substrates in the treatment of sanitary sewage in a root zone system. Specifically the objectives were to assess the behavior of the washed sand, gravel # 0 and gravel # 1 substrates and relate their efficacies in a root zone system with sub-superficial horizontal flow preceded by a septic tank and an anaerobic filter in the treatment of a sewage coming from one university unit. The repetitions of raw sewage constituted of five simple samples and five composed samples. The repetitions of the effluent of each stage of the treatment constituted of nineteen simple samples. This work deals with theoretical and experimental study of timber beams and timber/cold formed steel plates composed beams, submitted to the bending. A combination of different materials aims to the exploitation the advantages of each material, of manner to have a viable set, in constructive terms, structural and economic. For the accomplish of the research, three beams wooden with dimensions 40mm x 120mm x 1050mm, six hardened beams wooden in the superior face with metallic profile in the dimensions 50mm x 25mm x 2mm and six beams of wooden stiffeners in faces inferior and superior with the same profile metallic had been assayed. The spacing between the connectors had been of 100mm, 200mm and 300mm. With the objective to supply given necessary the sizing, a theoretical formularization for the determination of the internal moment and for the estimative of the deflection was presented. This work aims at the register of geotechnical areas in Goiania-GO, showing the occurrence of fine lateritic soils with potential for use in flooring. The methodology is based on work developed by Nogami and Villibor (1995). From surveys and collecting 17 samples in field tests were conducted from MCT (Mini-MCV, Loss of mass by immersion, compression and Mini-CBR) and verified the mechanical and hydraulic properties of these soils. The samples were collected at sites previously chosen using as reference the pedological map of Goiania, trying to distribute them to all soil units of this map. The surveys were performed to a depth of 2 m in each hole the soils were mixed, representing what occurs in practice during the operation of a loan area. The samples collected for the study were those who had only fine soil grains with diameters of less than 2 mm (sieve nº. 10). Tests were also carried out conventional characterization (particle size, Atterberg limits and specific gravity) of the samples collected to better identify these soils. The results obtained with all samples have the intention to form a database for future research in the area of pavement. Fastenings inserted in concrete are used in order to allow the introduction of these components in concrete structures, enabling the structural link between metal structures and concrete foundation and between prefabricated components and fixing reinforcement elements. This work will study specifically an anchoring system pre-installed (cast-in-place anchor), consisting of single head studs with square head and subjected to tensile force. Assays were performed in 30 headed studs, using self-compacting concrete with compressive strength in the C-30 class. The main variables are the presence and rate of reinforcement, the arrangement of reinforcement in the blocks, and the influence of both the flexural reinforcement (longitudinal and transverse) and the shear reinforcement (hairpins) on the load capacity of the anchorage. The experimental results were compared with five methods of design found in the literature and show that the flexural einforcement has no effect in increasing the load capacity of the anchorage. The use of a shear reinforcement together with the flexural reinforcement can increase the capacity of the anchor up to 64%. The knowledge of the compressive strength and static modulus of elasticity is fundamental to the study of deformations of concrete, since deformations can cause cracks that compromise both the structural behavior of the element and serve as an entry to deleterious agents. For purposes of correlating values of compressive strength and static modulus of elasticity of concrete, cylinders were cast with different strengths, different types of strain measurements were taken, different specimen sizes and the loading speed of the testing machine. The specimens were tested at the age of 28 days to determine the compressive strength and static module of elasticity according to ABNT NBR 8522:2008, using different types of strain measurement devices: two mechanical dial indicators, surface bonded strain gages, clip gauges and LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transducer). Two hundred and fifty eight specimens were cast with dimensions 150 mm x 300 mm and 100 mm x 200 mm using conventional normal strength concrete (NC - Class C30) and high strength concrete (HSC - Class C60). The objective this work is to develop and implement a methodology for special inspection on Concrete Bridges trough the quantitative analysis of the degree of deterioration of the structures so that it can serve as a basis for making decisions related to the rehabilitation of these structures. In order to develop and apply the methodology on concrete bridges, the existing methods of inspection of concrete structures were studied and adapted to the adapting to the concrete bridges. The methodology was based on GDE/UnB model in their latest formulation (Fonseca,2007) and adapted to the tables with the elements to be analyzed, together with the pathological manifestations that can occur in each element, timing and interventions classification of the level of deterioration and the relevant factors to each family of concrete bridges. A pilot study was proposed to validate the methodology. Results showed that there was a need for further adaptation, to consider the caculations of the degree of deterioration of both the family or the. With the changes proposed in the pilot study were made over 11 (eleven) inspections in order to validate the proposed methodology. The structural behavior and the ultimate punching shear resistance of internal reinforced concrete flat slab-column connections, with one hole adjacent to the column, with or without flexural moment transfer of the slab to the column was investigated. Main variables were: the existence whether or not hole, flexural reinforcement layout and ratio, the direction and sense of the moment transferred and the eccentricity of the load (M (moment transferred to column) / V (shear)) ratio at the connection - 0,50 m or 0,25 m. Seven internal slab-column joining were tested and ultimate loads, cracking, deflections, concrete and reinforcement strains were analyzed. The existence of hole adjacent to the smaller column dimension, the hole dimension, flexural reinforcement rate and placing, the variation of relation Mu/Vu in function of the load, and, than, of eccentricity of the load, influenced the slabs behavior and rupture load. These influences were quantified. Test results were compared with the estimations from CEB-FIP/MC1990, EC2/2004, ACI-318:2005 and NBR 6118:2003. ACI and EC2 presented most conservative estimates, although have presented some non conservative estimates. Brazilian NBR, even though being partly based in EC2, presented smaller conservative estimates and more non conservative estimates. Neste trabalho são realizadas modelagens numéricas de vigas de concreto armado, reforçadas ou não com fibras metálicas. Este procedimento possibilita a análise de diversas variáveis em uma estrutura, com relativa economia. O objetivo é a determinação da energia de fratura de vigas de concreto armado empregando programas comerciais de elementos finitos. Tem ainda por escopo analisar o modo de fratura II, ocasionado por tensões cisalhantes. Para tanto foi utilizado o programa comercial DIANA. A validação das modelagens é realizada através da comparação dos resultados numéricos obtidos, com valores experimentais da literatura. Esta validação foi inicialmente realizada com vigas e por fim prismas de concreto com e sem a adição de fibras. A não-linearidade física do material foi levada em consideração. This work contains a theoretical analysis of the behavior of plate girders. The reinforced concrete structures are subject to interference from many factors that affect its stability and its performance and may generate the need for interventions and eventual reinforcement. There are several techniques of enhancing that can be employed and in the case of columns, the increase of the section with reinforced concrete is quite usual. This type of enhancement requires the attendance requirements to ensure its effectiveness, among which stand out in importance: meeting the needs and characteristics of project, the appropriate sizing, and the adhesion between concrete of different ages. Although the reinforcement of structures involve risk situations, and in many cases, are costly and uncertain, does not exist in the country a specific normalization for their specific design and implementation, thus they have been executed considering the normative disposals for project and execution of structures of armed concrete and in personal experiences. This research was evaluated the behavior of reinforced concrete columns required to flexural compression, with an initial section of 120 mm x 250 mm and height of 2000 mm in the compressed section and enhanced with a layer of 35 mm of self compact concrete and anchors. Eight reinforced concrete square flat slabs of reinforced concrete were tested. Slabs were 130mm thick with an 1800 mm side and were submitted to central loading, and the objective was to investigate the influence of column rectangularity coefficient. Column cross section dimensions (cmáx/cmín) varyied between 1 and 4, with a constant perimeter equal to 1000mm. Results presented and analysed include ultimate loads and failure types, modes of rupture, vertical displacements, cracking and deformations of steel and concrete. Comparisons with codes, norms and results of literature results are also presented. The results indicate that as the rectangularity coefficient increases, punching shear resistance decreases for constant perimeter column flat slabs. Suggesting that punching shear has to be considered specially in regions close to column extremity, where there is a larger concentration of shear forces. In the case of conventional concrete, small constructive defects, variations of mix proportion or even inadequate curings can not compromise significantly the material. No longer HPC demands a severity in the control since its dosage until the execution, therefore any imperfection can bring serious damages to the material or the structure. Amongst the relative aspects most important to the total quality of any concrete it is the curing, that becomes basic when is about HPC. The curing of the high performance concrete constitutes in a controversial subject in the technician area as well as the type and duration of it, therefore the necessity of a deeper refined study on this subject. The establishment of transportation infrastructure is critical to the development of the Urucu- AM region, a newly developed oil exploration area in the Amazonas state. The construction of such infrastructure is challenging due to the lack of suitable materials for the construction pavement base and subbase courses and adverse weather conditions, with alternating heavy rainfall and drought periods. Besides the shortage of suitable granular material, the presence of expansive soils is often verified. The presence of expansive soils associated with inadequate moisture content during compaction, results in the occurrence of cracks in the pavements, drastically reducing its performance and lifetime. A quantitative understanding of this type of problem requires the analysis of the interaction between the unsaturated soil surface and the atmosphere and the study the mechanical behavior (stress-strain) of unsaturated soil. Such understanding requires the determination of the variations in soil moisture and total volume. The quantification of tensile stresses also requires the establishment or evaluation of the constitutive relations of the unsaturated expansive soils involved.
