Background and Significance: The analysis of care contribution provided by different professionals and the results of their interventions is a recommendation that emerges from the practice stems, from costs concerns and to re-structure health services. The need to deepen the nursing contribution, to health outcomes achieved by people, is our challenge.
We need to show further evidence that nursing sensitive health outcomes can contribute to health benefits of the people and pronounce today, the nursing role. This evidence may help to thinking about the practice, allowing that the new knowledge generated, contributes to its effectiveness. When we are dealing with a subjective and multidimensional state as drug addiction, with people in a methadone maintenance program, the health outcomes systematization is no easy task.
Objectives/Aims: Identify nursing sensitive health outcomes with drug addicts and identify nursing interventions involved.
Methods: We mobilize the guide lines of the Cochrane Center. We formulate the research question and determine the inclusion criteria by PI[C] OS method. We searched in B-on and Ebsco platforms and access to Scielo, Lilacs, Medicaribe databases. We search studies with samples above 18 years.
Results: We selected 8 articles from a survey of 353 primary search. We found evidence of 17 nursing sensitive outcomes...

OBJECTIVE: To highlight the registration issues for nurses who wish to practice nationally, particularly those practicing within the telehealth sector. DESIGN: As part of a national clinical research study, applications were made to every state and territory for mutual recognition of nursing registration and fee waiver for telenursing cross border practice for a period of three years. These processes are described using a case study approach. OUTCOME: The aim of this case study was to achieve registration in every state and territory of Australia without paying multiple fees by using mutual recognition provisions and the cross-border fee waiver policy of the nurse regulatory authorities in order to practice telenursing. RESULTS: Mutual recognition and fee waiver for cross-border practice was granted unconditionally in two states: Victoria (Vic) and Tasmania (Tas), and one territory: the Northern Territory (NT). The remainder of the Australian states and territories would only grant temporary registration for the period of the project or not at all, due to policy restrictions or nurse regulatory authority (NRA) Board decisions. As a consequence of gaining fee waiver the annual cost of registration was a maximum of dollars 145 per annum as opposed to the potential dollars 959 for initial registration and dollars 625 for annual renewal. CONCLUSIONS: Having eight individual nurses Acts and NRAs for a population of 265...

Objective To gather data from ten universities across two Australian states in order to: provide a descriptive demographic profile of undergraduate Australian nursing students; provide baseline data for a prospective analysis of attrition within undergraduate nursing programs; and to facilitate student recruitment into a prospective cohort study to examine graduate outcomes. Methods Approval was sought from each Head of School to enable recruitment of undergraduate nursing students as a sub‑sample of an ongoing large scale longitudinal e‑cohort study involving Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom nurses and midwives (http://www.e‑cohort.net). Each nursing school nominated a contact person to become part of the research team; provide aggregate data on the quantity and demographic profile of currently enrolled undergraduate nursing students; and to facilitate recruitment of students into the cohort study. Results Two of the ten universities could not supply any demographics of their undergraduate nursing student body and one university could not provide data on year levels. The remaining data revealed an interesting demographic profile in the following areas: the age range of students across both states was 17 to 68 years...

BACKGROUND To effectively respond to the growing demand for healthcare, governments need to consider how to recruit and retain their healthcare staff. This challenge is recognised by the nursing and midwifery professions. This umbrella review, supported by a group of nurse leaders in Australia, aimed to identify those elements known to support a high quality workforce by drawing on the best available Australian and international evidence. The findings provided recommendations that relate to practice, research, education and policy initiatives to help shape the future nursing workforce in Australia and internationally. METHOD An umbrella review of published systematic reviews was undertaken focusing on the Australian and international evidence for factors that are known to impact upon the ability of nurses and midwives to deliver high quality patient care. A total of 79 systematic reviews published between 1995 and 2012 met the inclusion criteria and of these 50 were considered of sufficient quality and were included in the results.; Alison L. Nursing Sciences are at a moment of paradigmatic transition. The aim of this paper is to reflect on the new epistemological paradigms of nursing science from a critical approach. In this paper, we identified and analysed some new research lines and trends which anticipate the reorganization of nursing sciences and the paradigms emerging from nursing care: biotechnology-centred knowledge; the interface between nursing knowledge and new information technologies; body care centred knowledge; the human body as a cyborg body; and the rediscovery of an aesthetic knowledge in nursing care.

Aim: This paper critically examines the literature relating to private practice nursing. Particular attention is given to the reasons nurses choose private practice and the major issues involved. A conceptual model has been developed based on this information. Background: Nurses' roles are expanding into different work domains. Private practice nursing is one of the advanced practice options available. It also requires the nurse to develop business knowledge and skills. Methods: A literature search was conducted of Pub-Med, Cinahl, Medline and InfoTrac databases using the terms 'private practice', 'nurse entrepreneur', 'nurses in business', Inurse practitioners', 'self-employed nurse', 'advanced practice' and 'clinical nurse specialist'. Further relevant articles were identified from the reference lists of papers detected by this literature search. In addition, conference proceedings were examined for any other material on this topic. Findings: A thorough search of the existing literature revealed one unpublished theoretically based study which examined limited aspects of private practice nursing in Victoria. A reasonable number of articles and publications that provided anecdotal and personal accounts of being a nurse in business were identified. This review highlights the need for further theoretically based research in this area of nursing...
